Those first days and weeks at home, getting to know your new arrival, are incredibly precious. My newborn photography follows the same documentary approach as the rest of my family work. I spend a couple of hours with you at home, simply hanging out with my camera and capturing the details and moments that make up your new world.
Everything is kept relaxed and natural, with no posing and no pressure. There’s no need to worry about outfits or preparing your baby in any way. I focus on capturing the reality of your everyday life and your family’s bond with your newborn. From feeding and nappy changes to meeting siblings or pets, whether baby is awake or asleep, it all tells the story of this unique time in your life.
While the days can feel long in the midst of sleep deprivation, this stage honestly passes in a flash! Babies grow and change so quickly. Let’s capture this time together.
How it Works..
Having a new baby can be exciting, overwhelming and unpredictable all at the same time. I do my best to make the whole process of my newborn sessions from booking, right through to ordering your products, as straightforward as possible.
My documentary-style sessions ensure that there is very little for you to prepare. There is no need to spend time tidying the house or planning outfits beforehand! You also don’t need to worry about your baby’s schedule. Firstly, we’ll be in the comfort of your own home and secondly, we will just work around whatever is happening for the time that I am with you - even if your baby sleeps through the session that’s absolutely fine!
We will follow these simple steps together:
Pre-shoot telephone consultation. We’ll have an informal chat so that I can learn a bit about you and your family. If there are pets or older siblings then they can be included in the shoot too! If so, we can discuss a bit about your routines and together we can decide on the best format for the shoot.
Get an initial date pencilled in. The nature of these shoots is unpredictable as we won’t usually know the exact date of the birth. For a newborn session, you would ideally want photos taken in the first 4 weeks. We will pencil in a date and I’ll take a 50% deposit for the shoot. We’ll keep in touch and confirm the shoot date closer to the time.
The shoot day – there is really nothing for you to prepare! For the best results you simply need to be yourselves. I’ll just come and hang out with you, as a friend would do, but with my camera in-hand. It will be super-relaxed. You’ll just get on with your usual day and I’ll snap away. There is plenty to capture with a newborn. I’ll spend up to 1 and a half hours with you just taking photos as you go about your usual routines.
Within 4 weeks of your shoot, you will receive a password-protected online gallery of your photos. You’ll watch and enjoy your images in a slideshow set to music. My newborn sessions are all inclusive, so you will receive the full gallery of high resolution digital images. I’ll also provide my price list and from there you can choose if there are any additional products you would like to order. I can talk you through and advise on the best options according to your tastes, so that you end up with quality products that you are really happy with.
